Trend Forecast: Jewel Tones

One of my favorite trends for fall 2020 has to be jewel tones. I love the classic white, cream, brown, and black colors that traditionally accompany fall and winter fashion, but jewel tones are making a statement this year and I’m super excited to be able to mix things up. Right now, my favorite jewel tone is ruby red (this might be because I’m an OU student and it’s incredibly close to crimson.)

I knew I wanted to pair my ruby shirt with my pleated skirt because the plaid pattern also has red in it. A match made in heaven! Since the pleated skirt already has a preppy vibe, I decided to really lean into it and accessorize with a pearl headband and matching white booties.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Headband: Pearl Headband – ROMWE
Purse: Croc Embossed Baguette Bag – SHEIN
Shirt: Rust Button-Up – Jones New York
Skirt: Plaid Pleated Skirt – H&M
Shoes: White Heeled Booties (similar)

This is one of my favorite outfits I’ve styled lately! I plan to share another post later in the season about how preppy fashion is making a comeback, so be on the lookout for that. I’m definitely a prepster at heart so all these trends are making my heart sing!

Pretty in Pink

I’ve been hurtin’ for an excuse to wear this skirt again. I wore it back in February for Valentine’s Day, and honestly don’t think I’ve worn it since. It doesn’t go with a lot of the other things in my closet, so I have to be very intentional when deciding to add it to the #OOTD. I love the way this look turned out, though!

Another piece of this ensemble that I have to be very deliberate when choosing is the corduroy jacket. Since it’s A) summer and B) a little oversized, I definitely have to be planning a look with this jacket in mind. Luckily, this #OOTD was able to combine the skirt and the jacket perfectly! I included a photo with the jacket off (just because it isn’t really the most summer-appropriate,) but I prefer it on because of how it ties together the black elastic on the skirt’s waistband.

My work’s office is very cold, very frequently so I may have to do a workplace-friendly version of this outfit soon! (AKA: A full shirt, not a tube top. We may have the casual-chic dress code, but limitations still apply.) Stay tuned!
